Alejandro Garnacho plays down comparison with Cristiano Ronaldo
While things have been a little more free-flowing in Europe, United have found goals hard to come by in the league, with the three at Brentford moving us to 42 for the campaign.
Garnacho admits a lot of work is going on behind the scenes, especially with Hojlund, to increase the team’s output going forward.
“I speak with him a lot. We try to help each other,” he added.
“Sometimes, from this side, it’s difficult but we try hard, try harder every game to try to score more of these chances, and the team will improve if we score more goals.

Bruno Fernandes Saudi Pro League contract: How Man Utd star’s offer compares to Cristiano Ronaldo’s world-record deal
© IMAGO Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes is once again in the transfer spotlight, with the Portugal international playmaker subject to a potential record bid from Al-Hilal.
Article continues under the video Ben Jacobs reported on Tuesday that the 30-year-old has emerged as a leading target for the Saudi Pro League outfit, who missed out on signing Mohamed Salah from Liverpool as a free agent.
Al-Hilal, therefore, have money to burn. Around €600 million had been earmarked to land the Egypt international.
While there’s no confirmation of how much Man Utd might potentially fetch for Bruno, the fee is expected to be a British record, with claims that there is a €70m exit clause having been dismissed.
The current Premier League record sale is Philippe Coutinho, who was allowed to leave Liverpool for Barcelona in a deal worth a staggering €135m. If Bruno Fernandes is to depart for Saudi, he will likely do so for more than this figure.
And the attraction is clear: the former Sporting CP star is set to be offered a massive contract.
© IMAGO – Bruno Fernandes, Man Utd How much has Bruno Fernandes been offered by Saudi?
Bruno Fernandes will be offered a contract in excess of €1.2m a week by Al-Hilal, according to The Telegraph.
His annual salary in the Saudi Pro League would be something in the region of €62.4m, compared to his current salary of €18.3m with Man Utd.
While the riches on offer to Bruno are massive, they still pale in comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo’s world-record deal at Al-Nassr.
His compatriot is thought to earn around €200m annually after becoming the first major star to sign for the Saudi Pro League.
Salah was in line to earn an incredible €590m over three years in Saudi Arabia, BBC Sport reports, while Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior reportedly has a €1bn deal still on the table from the Pro League, although the expectation is that he will not move.
Compared to these figures, Bruno Fernandes is being offered chicken feed by the Saudi Pro League, and it may well be that he is not tempted by the move as a result.

Ronaldo, Messi & Co – The most goals in Champions League semi-finals
13 goals takes top spot
©TM/IMAGO
The Champions League final is fast approaching on the horizon with Inter Milan already booking their place in the Munich showpiece. Inter edged out Barcelona in one of the best Champions League semi-finals in history with a 7-6 triumph on aggregate. After a 3-3 draw in Catalonia, Inter scored a late equaliser in the second leg to make it 3-3 with Davide Frattesi netting a famous winner in extra-time.
After securing a 1-0 first leg advantage in North London, PSG are favourite to reach the final as they welcome Arsenal to Paris in the second leg. The French giants quest to win the biggest prize in club football is well-documented and they’ll be aiming to reach their second Champions League final – PSG lost to Bayern Munich in 2020. Stepping up in the biggest games is the hallmark of truly exceptional players but which stars have scored the most goals in the Champions League semi-finals?
Which players have scored the most goals in Champions League semi-finals?
Unsurprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo is the record goalscorer in Champions League semi-finals – we’ve only used statistics since the 1992/93 season. The Portuguese superstar is the top goalscorer in the competition’s history with 140 goals and he’s netted 13 goals in 21 semi-final appearances for Real Madrid and Manchester United. Karim Benzema has played the joint-third most Champions League semi-final games with 18 and he ranks second with eight goals.
As the graphic above illustrates, Robert Lewandowski takes third spot with seven goals and remarkably four of those arrived in one game for Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid in 2013. Lionel Messi scored six semi-final goals for Barcelona and takes fourth spot with Jari Litmanen and Alessandro Del Piero tied on five goals.

Comparing their peak Champions League campaigns
Raphinha has been the standout player in the Champions League this season, but how does his record compare to Cristiano Ronaldo‘s peak season in Europe? We’ve crunched the numbers.
From an individual perspective, Messi enjoyed his most productive UCL campaign in 2013-14, a season which saw Real Madrid win the competition for the first time in 12 years.
For the purposes of this article, we’ve put Raphinha’s numbers from this season up against Ronaldo’s from his dazzling 2013-14 campaign.
During 2024-25, Barcelona have been one of the most enjoyable sides to watch and that’s largely thanks to the brilliance of Raphinha.
The Brazilian winger was fairly productive during his first two years with the Spanish giants, but he’s reached a completely new level recently.
Across all competitions, the 28-year-old has produced 57 goal contributions with 32 goals and 25 assists in 53 appearances.
Only taking his numbers from the Champions League into account and he managed to conjure 13 goals and nine assists.
Of his 14 appearances in Europe, Raphinha has only failed to produce a goal contribution in just two of those matches.
Despite Barcelona’s heartbreaking semi-final defeat to Inter Milan, Raphinha’s performances in both legs were further proof of why he’s currently one of the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or later this year.
And Raphinha has now equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for goals and assists in a single Champions League season.
Ronaldo was a man on a mission back in 2013-14, firing Madrid to their cherished La Decima as the fulcrum of Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
We’ve taken a closer look at his stats and have compared them with Raphinha’s from this season.
